SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

When people join the Naples Sail and Power Squadron, they usually join for the boating education, and then discover to their delight that they have become part of a boating family of like-minded people who meet for relaxed social gatherings such as a potluck dinner or rendezvous (boat optional).

We seek many opportunities for social boating, civic service and life-long friendships through events that bring our members and their families together. Our active social side includes cruises, rendezvous, navigation contests, dinner dances and picnics, golf outings and more, some of which are further described below.

Our members are both sailors and power boaters, from people yet to own their first boat, to trailerable sizes, to luxury cruisers. We invite all boating enthusiasts from around Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida to learn more about our organization and contact us to apply for membership today.

BOAT PARADES
Whether being Irish or pretending to be, showing our national pride on 4th of July, or helping spread some Christmas cheers, processions both on land and on the water are part of our roots. In fact, we don’t miss an opportunity to mingle with the crowds while making our organization and our enthusiasm for boating education visible among the communities in Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida.

These events receive strong member involvement. Our members make it look so effortless when, in fact, there are always a million things going on at once, and they earn merit marks too for their outstanding contribution. Contact us for details.

GOLF TOURNAMENT
Did you say golf?? Well, our communities in Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida are so well known for golf pursuits that we couldn’t pass out the opportunity to share boating stories on the green.

POTLUCK DINNERS
Potluck dinners by the members of the Naples Sail and Power Squadron are a lot of fun. We begin with a call to order – quorum is always successfully determined. Next, we have announcements and discuss members’ opinions of how things are going so far. Then we eat. That will follow discussions about the next potluck dinner and then we adjourn.

PREDICTED LOG
This is not only fun, but also an educational group activity. Members improve their piloting skills by testing how accurately they can forecast their boats time around a plotted course. Upcoming dates will be posted soon.

BOATING BUDDY
In the Boating Buddy program, we arrange for members without boats to take short cruises on member’s boats. This is an excellent way to get to know other members and to learn more about boating. Upcoming dates will be posted soon.
